For some reason this morning I actually awoke to my phone. Normally when I'm asleep, that's it, I'm out for the count and nothing will wake me - I did sleep through 3 smoke alarms going off the other day, didn't even flinch. So anyways, yes, my phone woke me up and it was a Private Number and normally I don't answer these, but I was kinda glad I did actually answer this call. It was the hospital, well more personally it was my surgeon's secretary calling to say that tomorrows operation has been post-poned because he is required to... [read more]
Talk about an early trip... the roads were foggy as hell when we left at 8.40am to head to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital for my appointment - which thankfully it's just a straight road from Atherstone all the way there, so we got there in time. After walking about a mile to the Pre-Op assessment area (seriously, the hospital is huge!) Passing liquids is fine afer the cafater, though they've became irregular - like one moment I'd be fine, then would need to pee like Niagra Falls.
Pain-wise, that's not too bad. Actually, I think it didn't hurt as much as they first put... [read more]
The time had finally came last week. Tuesday approached and I was starting to get very nervous - so I said goodbye to my friends and family and they wished me the best of luck. However halfway through the day, what goes and happens? Yes, you guessed it... the hospital phoned up and said the operation is cancelled due to lack of bed space - now this is the day BEFORE the operation, you can imagine how pissed off I was, but just as I was about to crack open a beer and chill out they phoned straight back up... So this song has been going round in my head and I thought I would share what I can remember :)
Friendship is a golden thread
Weaving through our life, it binds us together
Through each day that ...
