It was like the internet, but in our television sets and massively slower than 56k, but it had everything we needed to know. The news, weather, lottery numbers, star signs, flight arrival/departure times... yes, Teletext was the place to go to get that information. These days though Teletext and Ceefax are no longer used and it is quite sad that we no longer have to sit staring at a black screen with white text on it whilst waiting for the numbers at the top to cycle all the way through for a new page to... If you're someone who knows me well enough, you'd know I have an interest with the weather (and to some extent other natural disasters too), so yesterday I got bored and usually when I get bored random ideas pop into my head, and one did so, of which I think would be of use to a majority of the online UK WX scene. Ok, so maybe not so at this time of year, but definitely during the year it may be quite handy.

Ever since being a youngster on the internet, I've always enjoyed playing around with soundboards and especially when the (unofficial) Chris Moyles website came out with a program that assigned various sound effects, jingles and what-not to your keyboard keys, I started getting right into them.

Well as my own personal deadline for launching the site ticks down to less than 4 days away, I've pretty much done most of the "back-end" of the site. However the main point of this project is to show how I can transform it from 0 visitors when it opens to a certain amount (which I think I placed as 1,000).
So at the... [read more]
