Twitter on Teletext

Twitter on Teletext

It was like the internet, but in our television sets and massively slower than 56k, but it had everything we needed to know. The news, weather, lottery numbers, star signs, flight arrival/departure times... yes, Teletext was the place to go to get that information. These days though Teletext and Ceefax are no longer used and it is quite sad that we no longer have to sit staring at a black screen with white text on it whilst waiting for the numbers at the top to cycle all the way through for a new page to... Backing Up Your Computer Is Now Illegal

Backing Up Your Computer Is Now Illegal

The whole copyright debate is a mad one for the UK. One moment we can't make personal backup copies of our CDs and DVDs, then the next moment it becomes something we can do and then recently that has been once again changed. And it's not just the whole copying/ripping music that's involved - it also applies to computer backups.

The UK Intellectual Property Office ("IPO") has said "It is now unlawful to make private copies of copyright works you own, without permission from the copyright holder", so if you buy a... [read more]

Windows 10: Fix ALL Permission Errors

Windows 10: Fix ALL Permission Errors

To transfer images to my laptop from any device/laptop that's connected in my house to the WiFi (or if I'm out and about elsewhere and know my external IP) without having to install drivers for Android, Windows Phone, Apple, etc. I made a bog standard upload form running on my localhost web server so that whenever I'm on something else or out, I can just upload images straight away. Now after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, this still works fine... but with one slight problem.

I can't open the images.

The thumbnails... [read more]

Windows 10: Free Up More Space After Upgrading

Windows 10: Free Up More Space After Upgrading

If you've upgraded from Windows 7 or Windows 8 and you find that a lot of your harddrive space has been used up, don't worry too much as it's not Windows 10 itself that's packed it out.

When you upgrade, Windows keeps a backup copy of your previous OS to allow you to revert back to it if you're not happy with Windows 10 - however this is only valid for up to a month after you upgrade. Now this backup doesn't exactly come in at a small size as you... [read more]

Windows 10 Released Today

Microsoft Windows 10

It's July 29th 2015. And after all the build-up, the hype, the news stories flooding around technology websites, the preview copies, dev copies, insiders copies, bug reports, fixes and all that. The day has finally come. Windows 10 is to finally be released!

Will I be upgrading straight away when it's released?

NO

Why not?

Simple reason. NEVER trust something as soon as it's just been released.

Take a look at the (public) release of iOS8, for example, they had testers and what-not and guess what happened once it was released? Bugs galore and fuck-ups were constantly happening and they had... [read more]

dhIMG Twitter v1.5 Released

VERSION 1.6 NOW RELEASED

dhIMG TwitterBarely a few weeks have passed and once again Twitter has been messing around with a few things, which after being prompted by a couple of people who encountered an error, I have looked into it and released a fix. The bug didn't allow you to download any more than 20 images.

You should find now that, if chosen, then more than 20 images will download. I've just gave it a test on my account (selecting 60) and it worked fine.

As with previous releases, the download link will stay the... [read more]

One minute's silence on Friday

One minute's silence on Friday

Due to the recent events in Tunisia, our Prime Minister David Cameron has annouced that on Friday (3rd July) the country (UK) will fall silent for one minute to remember the victims of the Tunisian beach attack that happened on Friday 26th July.

Now whenever there's some sort of silence, I expect people to do it - all in all it's just a few minutes throughout the year that's taken by it. And by "doing the silence", I do actually mean DO THE SILENCE. No talking. No phone calling (unless obviously it's to the emergency... [read more]

iOS 8.3 Jailbreak

iOS 8.3

I've finally come into the modern world and upgraded from iOS 7.1.1 (of which I had jailbroke) and I am now running on iOS 8.3. So why the long wait?

Well, I've been a right sucker for having stuff jailbroken as I am from a very open and relaxed enviroment (Android) and don't like being tied to certain things (i.e; App *must* be downloaded via the App Store ONLY, audio recordings from a website cannot be natively saved to the device). I've always enjoyed having the freedom to do other things (I've even gone to the extent of... [read more]

Geography 101: England, GB, UK or BI

There's still a huge amount of confusion, not just with foreigners, but also with the citizens of this great land regarding what certain places are called. The main reason I decided to bring this up is because where the house is that I currently live in is supposedly in about 4/5 different named areas... and it causes major confusion when I try explaining it. Anyway, this isn't about me, it's about this wonderful nation/country/whatever... do we call it Britain? Great Britain? United Kingdom or the British Isles?

To save the confusion, I believe this quick Geography 101 I've... [read more]
