Welcome, Prince George of Cambridge

Royal Baby, Prince George of Cambridge

So the latest addition to the Royal Family and now 3rd in line to the throne (probably much to the utter disappointment of Prince Harry, who - as radio chart shows usually say - has fallen one place to fourth) has arrived, been pictured and finally been named.

The name chosen by Kate and Will for the future King is George Alexander Louis or to give him his current title Prince George of Cambridge. Though this did seem a bit problematic for Australia's Business Insider website, who ran the name as George Alexander... [read more]

I'm On Coke

I'm On Coke

Thanks to some eagle-eyed Tweeters this week (@AnalBlastersXXX) who found that my name is now featured on Coca-Cola bottles. Took Coca-Cola a while to include my name on the lists of bottles, but I'm glad it's now available, so people all over the country can "Share a Coke" with me. I did think when they first made these named bottles, that I was going to be left out altogether - like when you can get the named keyrings and cups from the seaside... they seem to have every name under the sun, besides... avast! Will Not Uninstall

avast! FREE ANTIVIRUS

I never have and never will be a fan of anti-virus software (which is usually the cause as to why peoples computers run slow - because it's constantly monitoring every file that gets modified on your computer and with your paging file and other system files being accessed many times a second, it starts to hog your resources by the balls). However once in a blue moon I do like to quickly install an anti-virus piece of software to see if I have fluffed up somewhere, however I haven't... got a good track record when... [read more]

I Learned Something Mathematically New Today

So besides sitting today and hating the heat because of the amount of hideous creatures that seem to rise from nowhere and annoy/scare me, I have done something useful. Well I say done something useful, more of that I've gained a bit of knowledge - thanks to the BBC Magazine.

So, when I was at school we learned our timetables upto the 12's, so 12x12 is always stuck vividly in my head as 144, because that was the highest we ever got up to, anything more and we'd just use a calculator - after all, that's their purpose, to dumb us... [read more]

Twitter Series: #4 Tweeting An Image

So in the previous post in the Twitter Series, I covered how you can send a text-based tweet. Now in this post, I will show you how to send a tweet along with an image.

Now it should be noted at the moment that the PHP Twitter library we are using, Abraham, doesn't seem to support natively Twitter's "statuses/update_with_media" API call (neither did it in v1), however there are a few work arounds, some simple and some a bit complex, however for this tutorial we'll stick to a more simpler workaround. (Hopefully though in the not-too-distant-future, Abraham updates his stuff and... [read more]

Moan About... TV Licensing

Just a quick grumble... now to some this may come as a bit of a surprise, but I do actually have a TV License - well The Mother pays for it, so we're covered - even though I do think it is a bit of a stupid idea (especially now we're in the digital age of TV [Don't pay TV License, then why not block the BBC channels? Simple?]). Anyways, the TV Licensing fee gets split between different departments within the BBC and other companies, but for this slight moan, I'm focusing on the BBC.

They have decided to spend a... [read more]

Twitter Series: #3 Hello World

You should now have the API running with v1.1, your application setup and your keys/secrets all together? Yes? Great, lets begin...

Hopefully your directory structure is currently like this:

+ Root Folder + twitteroauth - OAuth.php - twitteroauth.php

If so, then in the "Root Folder", create a file called "hello.php".

Now we will begin. At first we will need to assign all the keys and secrets as seperate varibles, like so:

<?php // Consumer key $consumerKey = ''; // Consumer secret $consumerSecret = ''; // Access token $OAuthToken = ''; // Access token secret $OAuthSecret = ''; ?>

Within the single quotes, you will need to put your values that're shown on your Twitter application's page.

Now... [read more]
