It started out as a little rumour floating around that our local paper picked up on about a big budget film being made in Weston-super-Mare, then even though it had an entry on IMDB and also the main actors WikiPedia page had the film listed in their filmography, someone spotted a lady in public talking to a security person and thought it was Banksy's manager(ess)... then all sorts of rumours flooded the town. Actually, not just the town, the main press too - especially when structures were actually visible from above the walls of Tropicana.
Yesterday put all rumours to rest though, with the news that it *was* infact a Banksy installation and the world knew about it! Most of yesterday #Dismaland was trending high in the UK Trends on Twitter. The local and the national papers covered it, so did the local news and national news - and as expected for Banksy, I saw articles on US media websites about it too. What an amazing boost to tourism that is more than needed within Weston-super-Mare.
How about today then? Well, today was a "locals only" day (of which we had a voucher in our local newspaper, Weston Mercury) and then had to arrive at Tropicana as early as possible. I was the third from last person to get in, so I had got there just in time!
Now I'm not really one for the whole art scene - be it the art-art stuff (usually a vase with sunflowers in) that you get shown and told to paint in school) nor the "I've put a worn-out shoe in a perspex box" type of art, but visiting Dismaland has been amazing.
Below are some of the pictures I took earlier and they're not in any wonderful order as I was here, there and everywhere around the place - just *click* *click* *clicking* :) (Oh and I'm supposed to say, some of these pictures may not be for suitable for children, but to be honest, that's life)
