The BBC and ITV have today released another FREE(ish) TV service for UK called freesat. It's basically Freeview but through a satellite dish instead of an aerial.
At the moment the coverage of freesat is 98% of the UK and also offers high definition programmes too. What programs they offer, I have no idea yet however it's just over 80. As for a price too, all you need to do is pay for a digi-box, satellite dish and an installation fee - which I don't also know. I know you can pick them up from Currys, Argos, John Lewis and Comet. The cost of the service is just that one time payment and then it is free for life - including all the current HD channels too.
Ok, I have just found out a list of the channels and here they are below:
BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1 (STV - Scotland or UTV - Northern Ireland), Channel 4, BBC Three, BBC Four, BBC HD, ITV2, ITV3, ITV3 +1, ITV4, S4C, E4, More4, Zone Romantica and Zone Thriller.
BBC News, BBC Parliament, S4C2, Al Jazeera English, EuroNews.
Film4, True Movies, True Movies 2, Movies4Men, Movies4Men 2.
Wedding TV, Overseas Property TV, Men & Motors.
Chart Show TV, The Vault, Scuzz, Bubble Hits, B4U Music.
CBBC Channel, CBeebies, CITV Channel, POP, Pop Girl, Tiny Pop.
BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 FM, BBC Radio 4 LW, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 7, BBC Asian Network, BBC World Service, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio nan G?idheal, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio London.
QVC, price-drop tv, bid tv, Pitch TV, JML Lifestyle.
Finally I have noticed that E4 and More4 are also encrypted channels too with something called Videoguard - so I don't think you can record from them two stations.
